 = (a  -  b) {}^{2}  + (a + b) {}^{2}  \\  = a {}^{2}  + b {}^{2}  - 2ab + a {}^{2}  + b {}^{2}  + 2ab \\  = 2a {}^{2}  + 2b {}^{2}

(a-b)^2+(a+b)^2

= a^2+b^2-2ab + a^2 +b^2 + 2ab

= a^2 + b^2 + a^2 + b^2

= 2a^2 + 2b^2

= 2(a^2 + b^2)
