Hi there

Your answer is :-

a + b = 60

a × b = 800

a = 60 - b

Putting the value a = 60 - b

we get,

a × b = 800

( 60 - b ) × b = 800

60b - b^2 = 800

b^2 = 800 + 60 b

b^2 - 60b + 800 = 0

b^2 - 40b - 20b + 800

b ( b - 40 ) - 20 ( b - 40 )

( b - 40 ) ( b - 20 )

b = 20 , 40

Putting value b = 20

a + 20 = 60

a = 60 - 20

a = 40

( a × b = 800 )

( 40 × 20 = 800 )

Putting value b = 40

a + 40 = 60

a = 60 - 40

a = 20

( a × b = 800 )

( 20 × 40 = 800 )

Therefore ,

a = 40 or 20

b = 20 or 40 ( Ans )
