Adding the two equation u get..

2a=8/6

2a=4/3

a = 2/3

substitute the value of a in one of the two equation,b=7/6-2/3

b=3/6

b=1/2

Answer:

a = 2/3 and b = 1/2

Step-by-step explanation:

given

a+b = 7/6 ------- (1)

a-b = 1/6 --------(2)

by elimination method using equation 1 and 2

a+b = 7/6

a-b = 1/6

b is eliminated and a is added

2a = 7/6 + 1/6

2a = 8/6

2a = 4/3

a = 4/3 × 1/2

a = 2/3

substitute a in eq. 1

2/3 + b = 7/6

b = 7/6 - 2/3

b = 7-4/6

b = 3/6

b = 1/2
