Well, it's a basic maths formula that (a+b) (a-b) = a^2 - b^2

Now solving it step by step we get-

Left Hand Side ,

(a+b) (a-b)

= a(a-b) + b(a-b)

= (a*a) - (a*b) + (b*a) - (b*b)

=a^2 - ab + ba - b^2

= a^2 - b^2

= Right Hand Side

Hence proved.

Now, let's take an example.

Let a = 5 and b =4

(a+b) (a-b)

= 5^2 - 4^2

= 25 - 16

= 9

By applying formula we get answer directly

(a+b) (a-b)

=a^2 - ab +ab - b^2

= 5^2 - 5*4 +5*4 - 4^2

=25-20+20-16

=25 - 16

= 9

I hope this was helpful.
