A, B & C form a triangle where ∠ BAC = 90°. AB = 9.6 mm and CA = 5.9 mm. Find the length of BC, giving your answer rounded to 1 DP.

Angle BAC = 90

AB = 9.6 mm

AC = 5.9 mm

then, by Pythagoras theorem:

AB² + AC² = BC²

(9.6)² + (5.9)² = BC²

BC² = 92.16 + 34.81

BC² = 126.97

BC ≈ 11.26 mm

Then, BC = 11.3 mm approx.

 Answer: 11.3 mm
