A, B and c can complete a work 10,12,15 days respectively. they start the work together but a left the work before I 5days to the complete of work b also left the work 2days after a. in how many days the total work will complete.

Work done by B in 1 day = 1/12

Work done by C in 1 day = 1/15

Let’s assume that the total work is completed in "x" days.

So, according to the question, we get

No. of days A has worked for = (x - 5)  

No. of days B has worked for = (x – 5 + 2) = (x - 3)  

No. of days C has worked for = x days

Now, the final eq. we get as,

[Work done by A in (x - 5) days] + [Work done by B in (x - 3) days] + [Work done by C in (x) days] = [Total work done]

\frac{x-5}{10}  + \frac{x-3}{12}  + \frac{x}{15} = 1

[\frac{6(x-5) + 5(x-3) + 4x}{60} ] = 1

⇒ 6x – 30 + 5x – 15 + 4x = 60

⇒ 15x = 60 + 30 + 15

⇒ 15 x = 105

x = 7 days  

 

Thus, the total work will complete in 7 days.
