A, b and c started a business with their investments in the ratio 1 : 2 : 4. After 6 month a invested the half amount more as before and b invested same the amount as before while c withdrew 1/4th of his investment. Find the ratio of their profits at the end of the year.(correct question)

Given:

A, B and C started a business with their investments in the ratio 1 : 2 : 4.

To find:

The ratio of their profits at the end of the year.

Solution:

1) Let the investment will be 2:4:8 (this makes the calculation easy).

2) We will do it in the ratio form only because the total investment over the year is the ratio of the profit only.

3) Investment in the parts of the 6 months.

  • (2×6)+(3×6) : 4×12 : (8×6)+(6×6)
  • 30 : 48 : 84
  • 5 : 8 : 14

The ratio of their profits at the end of the year is 5:8:14.
