(a+b+c)²=a²+b²+c²+2ab+2bc+2ca

Explanation

Let a+b= t

Therefore (a+b+c)²=(t+c²)

(t+c)²

=t²+c²+2tc

(on putting t=a+b)

=(a+b)²+c²+2c(a+b)

(using identity (a+b)²=a²+b²+2ab)

=a²+b²+2ab+c²+2ca+2bc

On rearranging the terms

=a²+b²+c²+2ab+2bc+2ca
