Question

What property is A +( BC )=( AB )+ C?

Answer

Associative Property

Associative Property property shows that it doesn't matter how you group number while adding or multiplying .

Associative Property of addition

  • (a+b)+c=a+(b+c)

Associative Property of multiplication

  • (ab)c = a(bc)

Here are some examples. Notice these properties work with either numbers or variables.

Associative Property of Addition

(a+b)+c=a+(b+c)

let,

  • ( 2+1 )+4 = 2 + (1 + 4)

  • 7 = 7

Associative Property of multiplication

(ab)c = a(bc)

let,

  • (2 × 2 ) × 4 = 2 × ( 2 × 4)

  • 16 = 16

These equations are often confused with the commutative property. The difference is that this property talks about how to move around parentheses. The commutative property talks about how to move around the numbers. Both statements are true in part because of the order of operations.
