Answer:

Let B’s initial investment be x.

∴ A’s initial investment is 5x.

5x + x = Rs. 36,000

∴ x = Rs. 6,000

∴ 5x = Rs. 30,000

Ratio of their share in profit = Ratio of their investments

⇒ 30000 × 8 + 20000 × 4 ∶ 6000 × 12 ∶ 40000 × 4 = Rs. 1,60,000

Thus, ratio of their investments = 320000 ∶ 72000 ∶ 160000 = 40 ∶ 9 ∶ 20

Profit earned after a year = x

A’s share = 16000 = (40/69) × x

∴ x = Rs. 27,600

∴ C’s share = (20/69) × 27600 = 8000

∴ C’s share is Rs. 8,000.
