a+b+c+d+e = 140

b+d=140-(a+c+e)...........1

a+c+e/3=24

=> a+c+e = 72.........2

putting in 1 we get

b+d = 140-72

b+d = 68

dividing by 2 we get

b+d/2 = 34

so the mean of b,d is 34
