Solution :

Now, secA (cosB cosC - sinB sinC)

= secA cos(B + C)

= secA cos(π - A), since A + B + C = π

= secA (- cosA)

= - 1 (Ans.)

Rule :

• cosA cosB - sinA sinB = cos(A + B)

• cosA cosB + sinA sinB = cos(A - B)

• sinA cosB + cosA sinB = sin(A + B)

• sinA cosB - cosA sinB = sin(A - B)

• cos(π - A) = - cosA

• sin(π - A) = sinA
