Answer:

44.21 hrs

Step-by-step explanation:

Speed  of car = 50 km/hr

Speed of Tonga & Cycle = 10 km/hr

Let say after 1200x km  b takes a cycle so for 1200x km he travels with car & for remaining (1200-1200x) he travels with cycle

then total time taken by b

= 1200x/50  + (1200-1200x)/10

= 24x + 120 - 120x

= 120 - 96x hrs

Time taken to reach that point  = 1200x/50 = 24x hrs

Distance traveled by a in 24x hrs = 10*24x = 240x km

While distance traveled by c in 24x hrs = 1200x  km

Distance between a & c = 1200x -240x = 960x km

in next t hrs c meet a

10t + 50t = 960x

=> 60t = 960x

=> t = 16x hrs

Distance covered by a in 16x hrs =  10 * 16x = 160x

the point is 240x + 160x  = 400x km

time taken = 24x + 16x = 40x

Remaining distance = 1200 - 400x = 800x

remaining distance covered by car

800x/50 = 16x

so total time taken = 40x + 16x = 56x

120 - 96x = 56x

=> 120 = 152x

=> x = 120/152

total time taken = 56x = 56 * 120/152 = 44.21 hrs
