First we take LCM of these numbers 20 , 30 , 40
so,
LCM is 120 ( total work is 120 )
A + B complete whole work in 20 days and total work is 120
then (A + B) complete work in 1 day = 120/20 = 6 (efficiency of A + B )
B + C complete whole work in 30 days and total work is 120
then ( B + C ) complete work in 30 day = 120/30 = 4 (efficiency of B+C )
C + A complete whole work in 40 days and total work is 120
then ( C + A ) complete work in 40 day = 120/40 = 3 (efficiency of C+A )
now ,
- Efficiency of ( A + B ) is 6
- Efficiency of ( B + C ) is 4
- Efficiency of ( C + A ) is 3
now , ( A + B ) + ( B + C ) + ( C + A ) = 6 + 4 + 3 = 13
A + B + B + C + C + A = 13
2A + 2B + 2C = 13
A + B + C = 13/2 = 7.5
so , total work = 120
A + B + C = 120/7.5 = 16 days
