Answer:

a/b is our fraction,

when we subtract 2 from numerator

numerator will be a-2

fraction will be (a-2)/b=1/4(given)

cross multiply, 4a-8=b,

4a-b=8

when we subtract 2 from the denominator, denominator will be b-2,

fraction will be a/(b-2)=1/2(given)

cross multiply, 2a=b-2

2a-b=-2 now, subtract this equation from above equation,we get

2a=10,a=5 put in any equation

we get b=12
