Answer:

The variety of plant and animal life in the world or in a particular habitat, a high level of which is usually considered to be important and desirable is called  biodiversity. its different types are genetic diversity, species diversity and ecosystem diversity.

Genetic diversity is the variety of genes within a species. Each species is made up of individuals that have their own particular genetic composition.  Examples of Genetic Diversity  Humans have created dog breeds by selective breeding.

Species diversity is the variety of species within a habitat or a region. Some habitats, such as rainforests and coral reefs, have many species. Others, such as salt flats or a polluted stream, have fewer. For example, there might be 100 mountain beavers that live in a forest.

The principles of sustainable development are as follows:

Conservation of ecosystem.

Development of sustainable society.

Conservation of biodiversity.

Control of population growth.

Development of human resources.

Promotion of public participation.

The principle of sustainable development emphasises on two basic needs, firstly, need for socio-economic development and secondly, need of limitation imposed on the environment's capability to cope with the present and future requirements.

A fall in fertility levels and slower population growth, for example, leads to an increased concentration of the population in the working age range, which can enable countries to reap a demographic bonus and jumpstart economic development. Migration can be an important enabler of social and economic development.

Eradicate poverty and hunger, guaranteeing a healthy life. Universalize access to basic services such as water, sanitation and sustainable energy. Support the generation of development opportunities through inclusive education and decent work.

Difference between sustainable development and development

Main difference between development and sustainable development is that development aims at raising the quality of life of only present generation whereas sustainable development aims at raising the quality of life of both present and future generations without threatning natural endowment and environment.

The goal of sustainable development is to provide resources for the use of present populations without compromising the availability of those resources for future generations, and without causing environmental damage that challenges the survival of other species and natural ecosystems.

All three — cities or local governments, the private sector and civil society — will have a role in making progress on SDGs through their own actions, by forming multistakeholder partnerships and in pushing national governments and each other to lead. And, of course, in holding them to account for their commitments

it strengthens civil society and the economy by empowering groups, communities and organizations to negotiate with institutions and bureaucracies, thus influencing public policy and providing a check on the power of government;

Sustainable development touches all aspects of life, from growing populations, climate change, halting biodiversity loss, to migration and youth employment.

  • The term biodiversity (from “biological diversity”) refers to the variety of life on Earth at all its levels, from genes to ecosystems, and can encompass the evolutionary, ecological, and cultural processes that sustain life.Biodiversity includes not only species we consider rare, threatened, or endangered but also every living thing—from humans to organisms we know little about, such as microbes, fungi, and invertebrates.

  • Sustainable development is the idea that human societies must live and meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. ... Specifically, sustainable development is a way of organizing society so that it can exist in the long term

  • Ecosystem diversity deals with the variations in ecosystems within a geographical location and its overall impact on human existence and the environment. ... Ecological diversity is the largest scale of biodiversity, and within each ecosystem, there is a great deal of both species and genetic diversity

  • Genetic diversity is the variation in the genetic composition among individuals of a population, a species, an assemblage, or a community. Diversity on a genetic level is a reflection of the similarities and differences in the genes (segments of DNA on chromosomes) of individuals.
