Answer:

4 m/s

Explanation:

Given,

Velocity of boy = 2 m/s.

Velocity of image = -2 m/s(-ve sign is there as its direction is opposite to that of the boy)

Then,

Relative speed between boy and image = 2 - (-2) = 4 m/s.

Therefore,

The image will approach him at 4 m/s

Hope it helps!

Now suppose the mirror as only a line, at its right is the boy and at its left is the image of the boy.

If the boy has a velocity of 2 m/s, the we have:

vb = 2 m/s

Now since the image will have the same velocity as the boy, we have:

vi = 2 m/s

The relative velocity for two objects moving in opposite direction is = vA + vB

Relative velocity of boy and image = vb + vi

= 2 + 2

= 4 m/s
