no of white balls is 3

Step-by-step explanation:

in first case

n(s)=12

let event be probability of white balls

n(e)=x

probability is x/12

in second case

n(s)=12+6=18

let event be probability of white balls

n(s)=x+6

according to question

x+6/18=2(x/12)

x+6/18=x/6

cross multiplication

6(x+6)=18x

6x+36=18x

12x=36

x=3
