let the number of 50 paise coins be x

then the number of 25 paise coins = 3x

25 ( 3x ) + 50x = 12000

75x + 50x = 12000

125x = 12000

x = 12000 / 125

x = 96

3x = 3*96

288

therefore number of 50 paise coins = 96

number of 25 paise coins = 288
