A bag contains 18 balls out of which x balls are red. (i) if one ball is drawn at random from the bag, what is the probability that it is not red? (ii) If 2 more red balls are put in the bag, the probability of drawing a red ball will be 98 times the probability of drawing a red ball in the first case. Find the value of x.

Answer:

1. 18 - x / 18.

Step-by-step explanation:

1. No of total balls = 18

No. Of red balls = x

No of balls not in red colour = 18 - x

Probility = no of non red balls / total no of balls.

Thus.... Ans = 18 - x / 18...

Hope it helps you..

(i) Probability (Not a red ball) =

 \frac{18 -  \times }{18}

(ii) Probability (Red Ball) =

 \frac{x}{18}

New Probability after adding 2 more red balls =

 \frac{x + 2}{20}

According to the statement,

 \frac{x + 2}{20}  = 98( \frac{x}{18} ) \\  \\  \implies \: x =  \frac{1}{490}

(Check out your Statement of (ii) part , it's not appropriate. Because the answer we are getting is in decimal which can't be possible.
