A Bag contains 20 tickets marked with numbers 1 to 20. one ticket is drawn at random. find the probability that it will be a multiple of (i) 2 or 5. (ii) 3 or 5.

The probability that it will be a multiple of 2 or 5 =?

The probability that it will be a multiple of 3 or 5 =?

Solution,

Multiples of 2 or 5 between 1 - 20 = [2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,5,15]

Number of Multiples of 2 or 5 between 1 - 20 = 12

Multiples of 3 or 5 between 1 - 20 = [3,5,6,9,12,15,18,10,20 ]

Number of Multiples of 3 or 5 between 1 - 20 = 9

Therefore,

The probability that it will be a multiple of 2 or 5 = 12/ 20

The probability that it will be a multiple of 2 or 5 = 3 / 5

The probability that it will be a multiple of 3 or 5 = 9/20

Hence, the probability that it will be a multiple of 2 or 5 and 3 or 5 is 3/5 and 9/20 respectively.
