Answer:

The number of red, white and blue balls in the bag are x, 2x and 3x respectively.

Total number of balls = 24

⇒ x + 2x + 3x = 24

6x = 24

x = 24 / 6 = 4

∴ Red balls = 4

White balls

= 2 × 4 = 8

And blue balls

= 3 × 4 = 12

Total number of all possible outcomes = 24.

(i) Number of balls which are not red

= 8 + 12 = 20

∴ The favourable outcomes of not a red ball = 20

∴ The probability that the ball drawn is not red

= The number of favourable outcome / Total number of all possible outcome

= 20 / 24 = 5 / 6

(ii) The number of favourable outcomes of the ball drawn is white = 8.

∴ The probability that the drawn ball is white

= 8/ 24 = 1 / 3
