A bag contains 40 balls , of then are red , some are yellow and the rest are black . Probability of an event = no. of favorable outcomes / total no. of outcomes

Probability of drawing any colored ball = 1 ( sure event )

Probability of drawing a red ball = 1/4

Probability of drawing a yellow ball = 2/5

Probability of drawing a black ball = 1 - ( 1/4 + 2/5 )

                                                         = 1 - ( 5/20 + 8/20 )

                                                         = 1 - 13/20

                                                         = 20/20 - 13/20

                                                         = 7/20

Number of red balls = 1/4*40 = 10 balls

Number of yellow balls = 2/5*40 = 16 balls

Number of black balls = 7/20*40 = 14 balls
