Answer:

The answer is 5/12

Step-by-step explanation:

Here the total no of balls are 12 and no of blue balls are 5.

So probability= favourable outcomes/Total no of outcomes.

Therefore 5/12.

Hope this helps you.

The answer is 5/12

Given,

A bag contains blue sticks = 5

A bag contains red sticks = 4

A bag contains orange sticks = 3

To find :

Probability of picking up a blue stick ,

Solution:

The total no of sticks = 5+ 4+ 3 = 12

No. of blue sticks = 5

So probability= \frac{no.  of  blue sticks}{Total no. of sticks } =\frac{5}{12}

Definition of probability

  • the chance that a given event will occur
  • the ratio of the number of outcomes in an exhaustive set of equally likely outcomes that produce a given event to the total number of possible outcomes
  • a branch of mathematics concerned with the study of probabilities
