A bag contains in all 50 balls. Some of them are white, some are blue some are Red.
The number of white balls is 11 times the number of blue balls. The number of red balls is
less than the number of white balls. Also, the number red balls is more than the number of blue balls. If one of the balls is selected at random from the bag, what is the probability that it is red?

Answer:

We will take X number of blue balls

Then we can write the number of white balls = 11X

Then we can write the total number of White and Blue balls,

X + 11X = 12X

Which is 12X

It is also given that,

Blue balls (X) < Red balls

Red balls < White balls (11X)

Since the total of white and blue balls has to be a multiple of 12,

12X can be 12, 24, 36, 48 since the total number of balls is 50.

When 12X = 36

X = 3 and 11X = 33

This satisfies the above inequality,

3 < Red balls < 33

Then the Red balls = 50 - 36

                                = 14

Therefore probability getting a red ball = 14/50

Probability getting a red ball = 7/25

Answer:7/25

Step-by-step explanation:

We will take X number of blue balls

Then we can write the number of white balls = 11X

Then we can write the total number of White and Blue balls,

X + 11X = 12X

Which is 12X

It is also given that,

Red balls < White balls (11X)

Since the total of white and blue balls has to be a multiple of 12,

12X can be 12, 24, 36, 48 since the total number of balls is 50.

When 12X = 36

X = 3 and 11X = 33

This satisfies the above inequality,

3 < Red balls < 33

Then the Red balls = 50 - 36

= 14

Therefore probability getting a red ball = 14/50

Probability getting a red ball = 7/25
