Given :

A bag contains 50 coins

To find :

Total amount of the coins bag contains.

Solution:

According to the given statement, a bag contains 50 coins.

Number of pennies = 18% of 50

                               = 0.18 × 50

                               = 9 pennies

Number of dimes  = 30% of 50

                             = 0.30 × 50

                             = 15 dimes

Number of nickels = 2 more than pennies

                              = 2 + 9

                             = 11 nickels

Number of quarters = Rest of the coins

                               = 50 -(9 + 15 + 11)

                               = 50 - 35

                               = 10 quarters

Since,

1 penny = 0.01 dollar

9 pennies = 0.01 × 9 = 0.09 dollar

1 dime = 0.10 dollar

20 dimes = 0.10 × 15 = 1.50 dollar

1 nickel = 0.05 dollar

11 nickel = 0.05 × 11 = 0.55 dollar

1 quarter = 0.25 dollar

10 quarter = 0.25 × 10 = 2.50 dollars

Total value of the coins in the bag = 0.09 + 1.50 + 0.55 + 2.50

                                                        = 4.64 dollars

The bag contains 4.64 dollars.
