Answer:

Given :

A bag contains 50 coins

To find :

Total amount of the coins bag contains.

Solution:

According to the given statement, a bag contains 50 coins.

Number of pennies = 14% of 50

= 0.14 × 50

= 7 pennies

Number of dimes = 30% of 50

= 0.30 × 50

= 15 dimes

Number of nickles = 7 more than pennies

= 7 + 7

= 14 nickles

Number of quarters = Rest of the coins

= 50 -(7 + 15 + 14)

= 50 - 36

= 14 quarters

Since,

1 penny = 0.01 dollar

7 pennies = 0.01 × 7 = 0.07 dollar

1 dime = 0.10 dollar

15 dimes = 0.10 × 15 = 1.50 dollar

1 nickel = 0.05 dollar

14 nickel = 0.05 × 14 = 0.70 dollar

1 quarter = 0.25 dollar

14 quarter = 0.25 × 14 = 3.50 dollars

Total value of the coins in the bag = 0.07 + 1.50 + 0.70 + 3.50

= 5.26 dollars

The bag contains 5.77 dollars.
