A bag contains Rs 187 in the form of 1 rupee, 50 paise and 10 paise coins in the
ratio 3:4:5. Find the number of each type of coins.
Let the number of 1 Re, 50 paise and 10 paise coins be 3x, 4x and 5x res-​

Let 1 Rs. note be 3x, 50 paise coins be 4x and 10 paise coins be 5x.

So,

Amount of 1 Rs. note

=> 3x × 1 = 3x

Amount of 50 paise coins

=> 50/100 × 4x

=> 4x/2

=> 2x

Amount of 10 paise coins

=> 10/100 × 5x

=> 5x/10

=> 0.5 x

Now,

We have given..

Total amount of is Rs. 187

So,

=> 3x + 2x + 0.5x = 187

=> 5.5x = 187

=> x = 34

So,

• Number of 1 Rs. note = 3x

=> 3(34)

=> Rs. 102

• Number of 50 paise coins = 4x

=> 4(34)

=> 136

=> Rs. 68

• Number of 10 paise coins = 5x

=> 5(34)

=> 170

=> Rs. 17

∴ Number of 1 Rs. note is 102, Number of 50 paise coins is 68 and number of 10 paise coins is 17.
