 A bag contains Rs 666 in the form of Re 1, Rs 2 and Rs 5 coins in the ratio of 7 : 5 : 4. Find the number of each type of coin.​

Number of Re 1 coins is 380, of Rs 2 coins is 100 and of Rs 5 coins is 60.

Solution.

Since the ratio of the coins is given as 7:5:4

The number of Re 1 coins can be calculated as 7c.

Similarly, the number of Rs 2 coins = 5c

And the number of Rs 5 coins = 4c

Thus the total value of Re 1 coins will be 7c × 1 or 7c

And value of Rs 2 coins will be 5c × 2 or 10c

And the value of Rs 5 coins will be 4c ×5 or 20c

Thus the total value of the bag will be

7c + 10c + 20c = 666 (as given in question)

37c=666

c= 666/37

Solving which we get c= 18

Thus the number of Re 1 coins =7c or 7×18 = 126

Thus the number of Rs 2 coins =5c or 5×18 = 90

And the number of Rs 5 coins =4c or 4×18= 72
