A bag contains some square cards a prime number between 1 and 100 has been written in each card find the probability of getting a card that the sum of the digits of a prime number written on it is 8

Here is your answer....

There are 25 prime no. between 1 and 100. They are 2,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,23,29,31,37,41,43,47,

53,59,61, 67,71,73,79,83,89 and 97.

So possible combination are 17 , 53, 71 .

so total 3 possibilities out of 25. so,

p =3/25 = 0.12 or 12% .

First we have to find out how many prime numbers are there between 1 and 100.

The prime numbers between 1 and 100 are given below:

2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 59, 61, 67, 71, 73, 79, 83, 89, 97

There are 25 prime numbers between 1 and 100. Thus the total no .of outcomes is 25.

Now, we have to find which numbers between 1 and 100 are there in which the sum of the digits is 8.

Such numbers are given below:

8, 17, 26, 35, 44, 53, 62, 71, 80

Among these, only 17, 53 and 71 are prime numbers.

Thus there are only 3 prime numbers between 1 and 100 in which the sum of the digits is 8, and therefore, the no. of favourable outcomes is 3.

Hence the probability is 3/25.
