Answer:

Let the number of fruits = f          (* is multuplication)

P gets 3/8*f

q gets 1/5*3/8*f

r will get whatever's left divided by 2, let's say x/2

x = f - 3/8 * f - 1/5 * 3/8 * f

multiply 1/5 and 3/8

take out a common factor of f

 x = f ( 1 - 3/8 - 3/40)

x = 11/20 * f

11/20 / 2 = 11/40

Check your answer by adding each persons amount, it should add up to 1

3/8 + 1/5 * 3/8 + 11/40 +11/40 = 1

Yay!

Let me know if you cant use a calculator for this one and need help woth the fractions

Answer:

1/4

Step-by-step explanation:

P took 3/8 of the fruits

P = 3/8 of the fruits

Remaining = 1 - 3/8 = 5/8

Q took 1/5 of the remaining of the fruits

Q = 1/5 x 5/8 = 1/8

Remaining = 1 - 3/8 - 1/8 = 4/8

The remaining fruits are shared equally between R and S:

R = 4/8 ÷ 2

R = 4/8 x 1/2

R = 2/8 = 1/4

Answer: 1/4
