When the object is at some height from the surface of the earth then the energy in that body is equal to the potential energy=MGH
potential energy=MGH
this potential energy converts into kinetic energy when body reaches ground.
So all the potential energy is converted to kinetic energy when the body reaches the ground
So: MGH = 1/2×M×V^2
however the total mechanical energy of the system is always cancelled because gravitational force is a conservative force.
Hope it helps you!

At height h it has potential energy i.e. mgh. But as it is dropped initialy it was at rest so its intial velocity is 0 so its kinetic energy is also 0
But ground its potential energy is 0 because height from ground is 0. But as it hits the ground with some velocity v so it has some kinetic energy (mv²)/2.
So whole potential enery is converted into kinetic energy
But ground its potential energy is 0 because height from ground is 0. But as it hits the ground with some velocity v so it has some kinetic energy (mv²)/2.
So whole potential enery is converted into kinetic energy
