potential energy = mgh

m = 200 kg, g = 9.8 , P. E. = 9800 J ,h =?

9800 = 200 ×9.8 × h

h = 5 meter

Given :-

  • Mass (m) = 200kg
  • Potential energy (P. E) = 9800joules
  • Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.8  \: m \: s {}^{ - 2}

To find :-

  • Height of the wheat bag

How to solve :-

As we know P. E = m  \times g  \times  h, where the value of P. E, m and g are given. It is asked to find the value of h. So, by putting the value of P. E, m and g in P. E = m  \times g  \times  h , we can find the value h.

Solution :-

  • Mass (m) = 200kg
  • Potential energy (P. E) = 9800joules
  • Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.8 m s-2
  • Height = ?

Putting these values in the formula,

P. E = m  \times g  \times  h

 => 9800 = 200 \times 9.8 \times  h

 => h =   \frac{9800}{200} \times 9.8 \\

 => h = 5m

So, the bag of wheat should be raised to 5m height.
