Answer:

price of the pastry reduced by 10.5 Rs

Step-by-step explanation:

A bakery used to sell pastries at a price of rupees 48 per piece

Let say Number of Pastries old = 5P

Amount of Sale = 5P * 48 = 240P Rs

sale of the pastries increased in the ratio 5:8

=> Now Pastries sold = 8P

earning of the bakery from pastries increased in the ratio 4:5

New Earning/Old earning = 5/4

=> New Earning = 240P * 5/4 = 300P  Rs

New Pastry Price = 300P/8P  =  75/2

Reduction in Price = 48 - 75/2  = 21/2 Rs  = 10.5 Rs

% decrease = (21/2)/48   * 100  = 21.9 %
