A bald eagle is flying to the left with a speed of 34

To find : speed of the bald eagle after  the wind has blown for 3 seconds

Solution:

A bald eagle is flying with speed = 34 m/s

U = 34 m/s

causing it to slow down with a  constant acceleration of a magnitude 8 m/s²

=> a = - 8 m/s²

Using the formula

V = U  + at

U = 34 m/s

a =  - 8 m/s²

t = 3 Sec

V = velocity after 3 sec

V  = 34 + (-8)3

=> V = 34 - 24

=> V = 10 m/s

speed of the bald eagle after  the wind has blown for 3 seconds will be 10 m/s

  • Therefore v final = - 34 + 8 t
  • Now the time interval is given as 3 secs
  • So v final = - 34 + 8 m / s^2 (3 s)
  •                = - 34 + 24
  • Or v final = - 10 m / s

Since speed cannot be negative and is always positive we get final speed as 10 m / s
