The final velocity will be 5 ms-1.

Explanation:

When body is dropped from a certain height its initial velocity is always zero. So, following data is given in the question.

Initial velocity = Vi = 0 ms-1

Gravitational acceleration = g = 9.81 ms-2

Time = t = 0.5s

To find the final velocity Vf the first equation of motion can be used

Vf = Vi + gt

Vf = 0 + (9.81)(0.5)

Vf = 4.905 ms-1
