A ball ia hit by a batsman at an angle of 37 as shown in figure. The man standing at P should run at what minimum velocity so that he catches the ball before it strikes the ground. Assume that the height of man is negligible in comparison to maximum height of projectile.
(a) 3 m/s
(b) 5 m/s
(c) 9 m/s
(d) 12 m/s

(b) 5 m/s

time taken by the projectile to reach the highest point = t

     t = (u sin37°) /g = 15 * 0.6 /10  = 0.9 sec.

The time taken by the ball to reach B:  2 * 0.9 = 1.8 sec.

So the man must cover 9m in 1.8 sec.

The velocity of the man ≥  9 m/1.8 sec = 5 m/sec
