Given: Ball dropped from height 100m. After rebounding, raises to height 80m.

To find: Coefficient of restitution

Explanation: Let coefficient of restitution be e.

Velocity gained after falling from 100m

= \sqrt{2gh}

=  \sqrt{2 \times 10 \times 100}

=  \sqrt{2000}

Velocity required for going 80m

= \sqrt{2gh}

= \sqrt{2 \times 10 \times 80}

= \sqrt{1600}

Now, e= Velocity of separation / velocity of approach

=

=  \sqrt{ \frac{1600}{2000} }

=  \sqrt{ \frac{4}{5} }

Therefore, the coefficient of restitution is  \sqrt{ \frac{4}{5} }
