A ball is dropped from a height of 100 m. The ball after each bounce rises vertically by half its previous height (This means at the first bounce it rises by 50 m, by 25 m at the second bounce and so on). What is the vertical distance travelled by the ball between the first and the fifth bounces?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

First bounce it travels 50m

Second bounce it travels 75m

Third bounce 87.5

Fourth bounce 93.75

Fifth bounce 96.875

So the verticle distance from the first bounce and fifth bounce 96.875 - 50 = 46.875

Answer:

= 187.5 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

A ball is dropped from a height of 100 m. The ball after each bounce rises vertically by half its previous height (This means at the first bounce it rises by 50 m, by 25 m at the second bounce and so on).

To find the vertical distance travelled by the ball between the first and the fifth bounces?

SOLUTION:-

the vertical distance traelled by the bouncing ball =  sum of all distance of bouncing ball between first and fifth.

So,

     Distance of first bouncing ball = (50 + 50) = 100 m

     Distance of second bouncing ball = ( 25 + 25 ) = 50 m

     Distance of third bouncing ball = ( 12.5 + 12.5 ) = 25 m

     Distance of fourth bouncing ball = ( 6.25 + 6.25 ) = 12.5 m

So, sum of bouncing ball between first and fifth = ( 100 + 50 + 25 + 12.5)

                                                                                = 187.5 m

THANKS.
