Question:-A ball is kicked horizontally with a speed of 5.0 ms-1 from the roof of a house 3 m high. When will the ball hit the ground?

Solution:-

At the top of the roof,, the velocity will have only horizontal component...

vertical component of velocity (at top)=0

the time taken by body to reach the ground will only depend on the vertical velocity

initial velocity(u)=0

acceleration due to gravity=10

distance travelled (s)=3m

using second law of uniformly accelerated motion

s=1/2 ×a×t^2

6/10=t^2

t=√3/√5

time taken=1.7/2.2=17/22=0.8s (approx)

{hope it helps you friend}
