Use equation of motion v²-u² = 2as

⇒ v²-u² = 2as

⇒ 20²-0² = 2 × 10m/s*s

⇒ 400 = 20m/s × s

⇒ s = 20 m

Half of maximum height = 20+20 = 40m

The maximum height attained by ball is 40 m.
