Given :

Initial velocity 'u' = 20m/s

Acceleration due to gravity 'g' = 10m/s^{2}

To find :

Distance 's' traveled by the projected ball in 2s.

Solution :

We know the equation of motion for a distance 's', acceleration 'a', time 't', and initial velocity 'u'.

            s = ut + (1/2)at^{2}

Here, a = g = 10m/s^{2}

          u = -20m/s , since the ball is projected upwards.

           t = 2s

Therefore, s = [(-20m/s) x 2s] + [(1/2) x 10m/s^{2} x (2s)^{2}]

                    = -40m + 20m

                  s = -20m , where neagtive sign indicates the

                                     upward motion of the ball.

Thus, the projected ball travels a distance of 20m in the first two seconds.
