Answer:

ball will hit the edge of 2nd  step

Explanation:

A ball is rolling on the top of a stair with a horizontal velocity 10√10metre per second if the steps 0.25 metre high and 5m wide the ball will hit the edge of nth step where n is

horizontal velocity 10√10 m/s

horizontal acceleration = 0

Vertical velocity  = 0 m/s

Vertical acceleration = g

Each step 0.25 m high => n steps  = 0.25n  m high  (Vertical distance)

Each step width = 5m => n steps width = 5n m high (Horizontal Distance)

Let say after t sec ball hit edge

using S = ut + (1/2)at²

=> Vertical distance = (1/2)gt² = 0.25n      eq 1

Horizontal Distance = 10√10t  = 5n           eq 2

eq 2 / eq 1

=> 5n/0.25n = 10√10t/(1/2)gt²

=> 20 = 20√10/gt

=> t = √10/g

putting value of t in eq 1

(1/2)g (10/g²) = 0.25n

=> 5/g = 0.25n

=> n = 20/g

using g = 10

=> n = 20/10

=> n = 2

ball will hit the edge of 2nd  step
