a ball is thorn vertically upward by speed of 12m/s in 8 then how much distance will it cover.

Anonymous: what is this "of 12m/s in 8 " ?
deshmukhyash64: in 8sec
Anonymous: and g = ?
Anonymous: 10 m/s2 or 9.8m/s2

initial velocity(u)= 12 m/s
time = 8 sec
let s be the height
so using
s=ut+\frac{1}{2}gt^{2}
 when g = 10 m/s²
s = 12×8 + 1/2 × 10 × 64
s = 96 + 320
s = 416 m
so the height reached is 416 m
when
g = 9.8 m/s²
s = 12×8 + 1/2 × 9.8 × 64
s = 96 + 313.6
s = 409.6 m

TPS: If a ball is thrown vertically upward, the time of flight will be (2X12/9.8) = 2.45 seconds. You don't even think about that and give a solution by using formulas you have byhearted in your school. Brother, its physics, not maths.
Anonymous: Dear TPS, check and see question again it says that the time is 8 sec only.
TPS: That's what I am saying!! whatever information is given, it is not possible.
Anonymous: yeah i understood what TPS want to say ,he wants to tell that with a velocity of 12 m/s the ball would only be able to go upward for 1.22 sec but i answwered it according to the question

u = 12 m/s
t = 8 s
'g' will be 10 m/s²
s = ?
s = ut + 1/2gt²
= 12×8+1/2×10×8²
= 96+5×64
= 96+320
=416 m
Distance will be 416 m.
