Given :

Initial velocity of the ball (u) =4m/sec

Acceleration due to gravity (g) =10m/sec

To find :

Height (h) =?

Solution :

As the ball is thrown up so the final velocity is 0m/sec. And the acceleration of the ball as the ball moves upward is (- a).

So by using the equation of motion,

As, v²=u²+2as

v²= u²+2gh

0=( 4 m/s)² + 2(-10m/s²)h

0=16 - 20×h

20×h = 16

h = 0.8 m.

Thus, the maximum height reached by the ball is 0.8 m.
