we know ,v2=u2+2gh....here as the particle is move downward along gravitational force so here sign between u2 &2gh is positive
so, (3v)2=(v)2 +2gh
or, 9v2=v2 +2gh
or, 8v2=2gh
or,h=4v2/g.........
it is the ans.....

prakharsingh2018: According to me answer is as follows:-
prakharsingh2018: v2=u2+2gh
prakharsingh2018: (3v)2=v2+2×10×h
prakharsingh2018: 9v2-v2=20h
prakharsingh2018: 8v2=20h
prakharsingh2018: 8v2/20=h
prakharsingh2018: Hence,h=2v2/5

it is given in question

u = v

v = 3v

a = g

so on putting the values in the equation v^2 - u^2 = 2gs

s = 4v^2/g = 0.4v^2
