Solution:

Consider the attached figure while going through the following steps.

Draw the lines perpendicular to both x-axis and y-axis from 0 s to 1 s, as we do while finding the scope of a graph.

So, for the given, we get, y - coordinate value to be 1.4 m and x - coordinate value to be 1 s.

Therefore, the speed of the ball = distance / time = 1.4 m / 1 s = 1.4 m/s
