maximum horizontal distance if thrown at 45 deg.
Range = 100 m = u^2 / g so u^2 = 100 g
with the same velocity, the ball is thrown now vertically:
apply: v^2 - u^2 = -2 g h
0 - 100 g = - 2 g h
so height = 50 meters
