s = 100m. v = 0. a = -10m/sec u = ?

By the third equation of motion,

v^2 = u^2 + 2as

0 = u^2 + 2*(-10)*100

0 = u^2 + -2000

u^2 = 2000

Therefore,

u = √2000

u = 1020 = 205

Ans: The initial speed was 205 m/sec.
