A ball is thrown upward with an initial velocity of 100m/s .after how much time will it return ? Draw velocity time graph for the ball and find from the graph i)the maximum height attained by the ball and ii)height of the ball after 15 s.

Explanation:

Given

  • Initial velocity = Vi = 100 m/s
  • Final velocity = Vf = 0
  • Gravity = g = 9.8 m/s^2
  • Time =?

As we know

Vf = vi + gt

Put given values

0 = 100 + 9.8 × t

0-100 = 9.8 × t

-100 / 9.8 = t

Then

Time = 10.2 secs

  • The ball will take 10.2 seconds to reach at maximum height where final velocity becomes zero and then it starts returning.
